Lewisville awarded the 2010 Texas Firefighter Olympics
Missed the 2005 Texas Firefighter Olympics in Lewisville? Well, they're coming back. An estimated 2,000 firefighters from across the state came to the city during the July 2005 contest, plus several thousand more friends and family, which exceeded city estimates. Lewisville liked the generated revenue from those numbers and put in a bid for the 2010 games, which they won. Olympic events include powerlifting, darts, archery, softball, bowling, golf, disc golf, sporting clays, billiards, soccer and more. They don't pole vault in full gear but we can dream, can't we?
