Picnic of PPT Fire Benefit
- When: Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, 7 p.m.
- Where: Double Wide, 3510 Commerce Street, Dallas
- Cost: $10
- Age limit: Not available
Admittedly, we've mentioned the Picnic benefit set for the Double Wide Sunday night on our site many times. But just wanted to say that his group, P.P.T., has been good to us since we started our company and we're grateful for that. They're a talented trio, I've had the songs from Tres Monos in my head ever since getting my hands on a copy.
But better yet they're great people. If you're new to Pegasus you may not be familiar with P.P.T. or the fire that displaced many before Thanksgiving. Picnic was among those who lost their homes.
One of the many aims of our site is to build upon the communities of DFW, which is a vast suffusion of city upon city. As a result, sometimes the news can seem impractical to those who try to consume it. Thinking about it another way, for example, I look out to my back yard and see a tall wooden fence. It blocks the view of many other fences of my neighbors. As much as I love the privacy, it nonetheless seals all of us in the neighborhood off. Imagine the media in this town and everywhere else in America putting up a kind of fence between them and you. We don't want that. We want you to take part in the dialogue and feel like you are more part of the community. So when a member of our community is in need we feel obligated to let anyone who cares to listen to hear about it. It doesn't mean you have to listen. But just know that we'd like you, whichever bit of turf you stand on, to know that here is a place to let other people in on what's happening, or what's on your mind.
And with that I just wish you Godspeed, Picnic.
