DFW rapper convicted of drug charges
DFW rapper and producer Tommy Burns, aka Twisted Black, was sentenced to life in prison recently in Midland, after his conviction on drug charges. The news evoked this reaction from Playa Rabbit on his MySpace blog:
I got word that Fort Worth Rap artist and close friend to my family Twisted Black got Life sentence, My Heart goes out to the family I try to ask around as much as I can, I won't go into detail's but i'm relly sayin I hope and pray his people get the case dropped, Hold ya head homie, we support ya, you still A hustla as B.G. said on ya song, We waitin for ya to get up out of there, IF YOU WANNA DROP A COMMENT ABOUT THIS SITUATION JUST LOOK FOR TWISTED BLACK IN MY PROFILE AND VISIT HIS PAGE, THIS IS SERIOUS YA'LL, 2 my people grindin' stay on ya grind but get yours and get out, you can call me real or fake as long as you know I'm still standing,

On one hand, I hate that drugs were being dealt. But on the other, people are going to buy drugs no matter what, and honestly, why should the law tell anyone what they can do to themselves?

FREE TWISTED BLACK! I'm no lawyer, but my understanding of conspiracy charges is that you can be charged just for TALKING about doing something illegal. That's B.S. Yeah, I know he actually did sell some blow, at least according to someone willing to snitch on others to reduce his own sentence. But I don't see how conspiracy charges are even constitutional. Even if he did it, nobody deserves life in prison for selling drugs. What a waste.
