McKinney High School meets the No Child Left Behind Act standards
But does the U.S. Education Department meet basic proof-reading standards?
Because a very small number of McKinney High School students experienced medical emergencies this past spring, the campus initially fell just short of the No Child Left Behind Act's "Adequte Yearly Progress" (AYP) criteria, which partly depends on the Attendance Rate. However, after McKinney High School Principal Donna Rother and her staff collected the information necessary for an appeal, the U.S. Department responded accordingly, albeit in a circular and somewhat nonsensical language:
"Your appeal provided sufficient documentation to approve this appeal. The appeal for Mathematics Participation was granted. The 2006 AYP status for McKinney High School is Meets AYP."
If you give it a second, it will make sense. But surely there was a better way to go about writing that.
