Rachael Ray holds signing for new cook book at Borders
Rachael Ray Book Signing
Food Network phenomenon Rachael Ray had a book signing Wednesday night at Borders Books & Music on Preston and Royal promoting her book 2,4,6,8: Great Meals for Couples or Crowds. It was a mad house, and to make matters worse, you had to have a ticket. Just showing up 30 minutes before the book signing wasn’t good enough. Borders had 300 tickets that they started passing out yesterday at 9 a.m. and they were out by about 1 p.m. As I walked in a lady was bickering with one of the Borders employees, “You mean if I come in and buy three books you’re going to turn me away?” If she was a real fan, she would have camped out in front of Borders the night before.
People came from all over the metroplex to get their books signed, like Nikki Fox who drove from Grand Prairie. Fox has been a Rachael Ray fan for years, she said. I had a lot of fun talking to her and the other women in line around her. They all knew how Rachael Ray got started, and said they find themselves using her popular phrases, such as “E-V-O-O” (stands for extra virgin olive oil) and “yummo.” Even those that didn’t have tickets had a generally good attitude – they were perfectly happy snapping a picture and going on their way.
