Holiday songs that don’t suck…as much
Oh, the Christmas song. What a miserable machination of music and holiday consumerism. Few things suck more than holiday songs, one of which being articles about holiday songs. Ahhhh, now that the initial rant is out of the way, let's move on.
Knowing the horrific, generic past of the Christmas song, including Hanukkah and Kwanzaa songs, I wanted to put together a list of the ones that don't suck. There are of course the greats, including almost anything Nat King Cole or Bing Crosby, but you already know those songs. For this list, we at Pegasus News wanted to bring you some of the more obscure tunes that you may not hear on the radio this season, but of course we've included a few that you might hear that we still love.
This list was compiled via Pegasus News staffers, this website, and a couple other sources to be named. Disclaimer: I cannot promise that all of these songs don't suck, but I will say that they cannot possibly be worse than this one. Go ahead and get your holiday on.

Erin - quick clarification re. the Glenn Mitchell entry:
Glenn didn't sing or record the infamous "goat song"; rather, he hosted the annual Christmas Blockbuster on 90.1 FM, during which he always played his archived recording of this song.
My bad for not making this clear when I gave it to you in the first place.
Dang, I miss the Blockbuster (and Glenn).

I know it's well known, but Christmas music isn't Christmas music without "This Christmas" by Donny Hathaway.

Donny Hathaway's version is one of my wife's favorite's (and mine). The other versions just aren't the same.

Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers' "Christmas All Over Again" is a great Phil Spector-esque rave-up. So good I listen to it out of season. (A Very Special Christmas, Vol 2)
My other favorite is The Smithereens' "Waking up on Christmas Morning" (only available on a BMG compilation called December Songs, I think.)
The Pogues' "Fairytale of New York" is genius.
And you can't go wrong with the Asylum Street Spankers' album A Christmas Spanking
