McKinney HS graduate to take part in Texas State Senate scholars program
Gonzalo Serrano, a 2003 First in Family graduate from McKinney High School has been selected to participate in the Senator Gregory Luna Legislative Scholars and Fellows Program next year. The program places students in the Texas State Senate’s upcoming 2007 Legislative session. Serrano will begin the internship following his graduation from McMurray University this month.
Serrano will work in Austin as a full time legislative assistant for the Texas Senate. It’s the first time a McMurry student has earned the internship. Only 14 internships are awarded throughout the state.
McKinney ISD recognizes seniors who are the first members of their families, including parents, to graduate from high school. Serrano, who will complete his undergraduate studies at McMurray in just three and one-half years, was the first in his family to graduate from high school.
Serrano will begin law school at Texas Tech University following the internship with the Texas Legislature.
