McKinney ISD collects toys and food for needy families

The McKinney Independent School District collected a number of toys, supplies and food items over the past month that will be donated to families in need over the holidays.
On Friday, Dec. 15, the district received 60 hams from an anonymous donor. The hams were delivered by UPS delivery person Jerry Taylor to the district's Central Distribution Center. The delivery of the hams was made possible by UPS manager Jeff Thompson who personally picked up the donated hams and loaded them onto the UPS truck for delivery to the district.
In addition to the hams, the district received a number of other items including toys, canned food goods and personal items. The donations are being distributed throughout a number of schools in the district to individuals in need.
A portion of the items donated were delivered to Vega Elementary School. Members of the McKinney ISD Partners in Education program, Nancy Cowlishaw and Judy Cooley, delivered the donations to the school on Friday, Dec. 20. The remainder of the donations will be delivered throughout the school district through Friday, Dec. 22.
