Plano store in trouble for selling piranhas
Texas Parks and Wildlife officials discovered around 40 piranhas, those carnivorous fresh-water fish from South America, being sold at an East Plano aquarium store.
The red-bellied piranhas had apparently been ordered from a Taiwanese distributor. Charges are still pending, but store owners could be fined up to $500 per fish.
While it is against the law to sell, possess or bring piranha into Texas, there are those who find piranhas a welcome addition to their aquarium collections. In fact, according to Practical Fishkeeping, piranhas are "robust and easy to keep."
Plus, piranha meat has been long known to have borderline magical healing powers.
Just be careful when pulling the cuddly guy out of the tank.
