Want to do something to help Ash Creek residents? Here’s an opportunity
Whatever you think about the Ash Creek Mobile Home issue, there is one thing on which we can all agree -- the residents of Ash Creek are in a bad spot. Some of the park's neighbors are taking donations to make the holiday merrier for some of the residents who need it the most. This is a story we've been following closely and something we'd love to see the Pegasus News community support.
WHITE ROCK HILLS Whatever you think about the Ash Creek Mobile Home issue, there is one thing on which we can all agree -- the residents of Ash Creek are in a bad spot, and that's compounded by the holidays.
Some of the park's neighbors are taking donations to make the holiday merrier for some of the residents who need it the most.
There are two ways to help:
Bobbie Howard, Cathy Dennis and Marty Ray are collecting money to buy Minyard gift cards, in the hope of giving $50 cards to individuals and $100 cards for families. You can also give the Minyard gift card itself, if you prefer not to do cash. (Note: Cards need to be Minyard, as that is the only store many of the residents can get to easily.)
They are also collecting wrapped or unwrapped gifts. Gifts should be marked as to their contents and the age or gender for whom they are appropriate. Clothing for all and toys for kids would be great.
There are at least thirteen residences housing 33 people targeted by this effort. Many of these are among the tenants who will lose their trailers when the park closes because they are unable to be moved. These include men, women and children. Here's a rough breakdown of some of the needs:
There are boys aged 4-15 and girls aged toddler-18. There are 18 adults, and there is a special need for 2XL clothing for two women and one man.
All gifts need to be received by no later than 11 AM on Saturday, although the sooner the better.
We encourage our readers, particularly in the neighborhood, to contribute to this effort in any way they can. If you want to contribute, contact Marty Ray at 214-328-5934 or you can email me and I'll see she gets the message.
We're going to make a little donation and we'd love to see the Pegasus News community join us in this.
