Mansfield ISD trustees create new elementary attendance boundaries

Additionally, the board ignored MISD student's appeals to create an alternate 'Chuck-E-Cheese attendance zone.'

In light of the new Holt Elementary school which will open next year, Mansfield ISD Trustees have modified the district's attendance zones in the northern part of the district.

Additionally, the Trustees turned down a third-grade lobbyist group's appeal to create an alternate 'Chuck-E-Cheese attendance zone.'

Under “map option C,”

  • Holt Elementary will draw students from the current Anderson Elementary zone.
  • Families south of Sublett Road will become part of Holt Elementary's zone, which will be at Ledbetter and Harris roads.
  • Rush Creek apartment complex in the Davis Elementary’s zone will switch to Holt elementary's zone.
  • Harmon Elementary students who live north of Nathan Lowe Road will attend Anderson Elementary

However, the new attendance zones have given fourth-grade teacher Deborah Schwan a cause for concern. Because the change swaps apartments with single-family homes, Schwan tells the Star-Telegram, some teachers might leave the Harmon or Mansfield school districts due to the altered student-body makeup.
