Grand Prairie’s Fish Creek becomes ‘A Trail of Two Cities’

By mid January you can run, bike or hike a total of 10 miles of concrete trail that runs through both Grand Prairie and Arlington along scenic Fish Creek. Grand Prairie's Fish Creek Trail, a three mile stretch, will become "A Trail of Two Cities" near State Highway 360 and Green Oaks Boulevard where the trail extends into Arlington.

Marking the limits will be a medallion and arched monument celebrating the collaboration of both cities on the trail connection. The popularity of the Fish Creek Trail has continued to increase since the first segment was built in the mid 1980s.

Grand Prairie's section of trail is located in Fish Creek Linear Park, which features four playgrounds, a group pavilion, a full and a half basketball court, picnic tables and rest stops. The park is located between Matthew Road to the east and State Highway 360 to the west.

The City of Grand Prairie encourages residents to get out and get walking as part of the National Park and Recreation Administration's "Step Up to Health – It Starts In Parks" program. This nationwide initiative is designed to highlight the benefits of healthy lifestyles and provide the means to achieve and maintain those healthy lifestyles. Sandy, thanks for commenting. You might want to try contacting the city of Grand Prairie directly -- here's the e-mail for their Parks and Recreation dept.: chartman@gptx.org

We're not affiliated with them -- we just posted the press release.

Teresa Gubbins, says:

alex, would it be SO HARD for you to go out and install a porta-potty? tsk

Alex Bentley, says:

It's only <a href="http://www.alltimefavorites.com/local/party-rentals/rentals-restrooms/Texas/Dallas.htm">$1500/day to rent one</a>, T-Gubs.

Pavel Lishin, says:

But it's only approx $30 for one of these cardboard receptacles, and you can get a shower curtain for $4 at WalMart.

Nice artwork Pav, while the old Grand Prairie, once called Thortonville in 1870 is where you went if you did not have an outhouse in the 1900's, and it was gravel pit country, Vilbig's owned most of the gravel pits that later became ponds and then good old boy fishing holes and good old girl skinney dipping holes...oh well ponds and holes hide well in Grand Prairie, A.T, Fishin buddy.

Ha! If only it were that easy! I think I tried suggesting removal of one of my own comments once. Didn’t work.

No need to be so sensitive. If George Michael can keep his sense of humor about public restrooms, you should certainly be able to laugh this off.
