Kennedale to issue new debt for new water
In order to continue providing water to its residents, Kennedale will tap into Fort Worth.
On December 14th, the Kennedale City Council adopted Resolution 220 authorizing a Notice of Intention to issue Certificates of Obligation (C.O.) that will allow the City of Kennedale to access an alternative water source.
Currently, Kenendale uses well water. But in order to meet the growing demand, the City requires an additional water resource from a reliable wholesale supplier. The city of Fort Worth has proven to be a reliable wholesale water supplier for many Tarrant County cities over the years.
Therefore, by issuing $2.9 million in C.O.s, the City of Kennedale will construct a 16-inch water line, along with a metering and pumping station, that will tap into the Fort Worth water system.
As mentioned by the Interim City Manager Mark White, the City will continue to utilize its well water resource and have the Fort Worth water system as a backup reserve. In addition to this water project, part of the C.O. issuance will be used to increase the size of significant sewer mains around the City to also meet the growing demands of wastewater on the system.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
