Our good friend Ch0 from DFWHipHop.com was kind enough to put together his year end picks for the top ten hip-hop albums of 2006. If you like what you read below, make sure to sign up for DFWHipHop.com. Becoming a part of that community is without a doubt the fastest way to get caught up on all the most important local happenings in the hip-hop world.
This is the net result of a brief series of arguments up here in the DFW Treehouse as to what albums jammed the hardest overall this year.
Some sh*t ain't make the list cuz we ain't peep it
Kind of in order but not really:
1. Young Dro - Best Thang Smokin' (LP of the summer)
2. T.I. - King (some classic material on this one)
3. Akon - Konvicted (highly listenable street blend, an interesting twist on rap/r&b)
4. Young Jeezy - The Inspiration (beets that will silence a room, rhymes encrpyted in D-code, hater magnet for what?)
5. The Game - Doctor's Advocate (a lot of production value in this one, and this man is dead serious about his a-rappin')
6. Lil Scrappy - Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live (a smash effort from a promising young talent in a good place)
7. Eminem presents The Re-Up (a mainstream mixtape-style effort that rappers seem to enjoy)
8. Jay-Z - Kingdom Come (some would argue Nas or Ghostface instead)
9. Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere (finally, an album your children can listen to)
10. Just on GP I'd have to go with a Dallas effort such as Big Tuck - The Absolute Truth, P.P.T. - Tres Monos In Love, or Money Waters - Swalhaggin. Outside of that, a consensus could not be reached, even among just Texas artists , such as Chamillionaire, Z-Ro, Trae, Pimp C, etc. so insert your own here, Noble Reader.
It was an OK year for rap.
Happy New Year and Buddha Bless.

Lil Scrappy kind of disappointed me but I guess I need to really listen to it again.
