In May, school districts that pay into the state's Robin Hood funding program were under the impression that new legislation would radically reduce or remove their payments.
Instead, payments have gotten smaller, but not by as much as the schools might have hoped.
Nevertheless, the good news is that Grapevine-Colleyville ISD's payments have decreased from $49.3 million for 2005-06 to $44.4 million for 2006-07.
If for any reason you haven't heard of Robin Hood yet, the thought process behind it is that 'property-wealthy' districts should help educate students in 'property-poor districts' by reallocating funding. Obviously, the reference is to Robin Hood's famous campaign to take money from the rich and give it to the poor.
Other Tarrant County districts that pay into the system include Carroll, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, and Northwest.
