State Rep. Brian McCall says he has the votes to be House speaker
Rep. McCall won't name backers but he is confident he can oust Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick. Rep. Warren Chisum (R-Pampa) is among those saying, not so fast. Reports the Houston Chronicle:
Chisum — along with Republican Reps. Frank Corte of San Antonio and Phil King of Weatherford, and Democratic Rep. Norma Chavez of El Paso — said after the meeting that those who claim support should show their list of pledged backers.
"If you have support, then show me your list," Chavez said.
Craddick released a list of 84 backers. The House has 150 members. Dallasblog.com reports a source has told the site McCall has the support of at least 25 House members.
