Texas Music Awards accepting nominations

Email Print Tell us your story Comment

Now comes this from the folks at My Texas Music about their annual awards, which always has local folks up for something (Justin Frazell at 99.5 The Wolf has been named best DJ the past two years, for example):

Beginning January 1st, 2007, nominations will be accepted for the 2007 Texas Music Awards, to be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the acoustically-perfect Music City Texas Theater in Linden, Texas! Only musicians who are members of MyTexasMusic.com or the Academy of Texas Music are eligible, and several award categories also require a 2006 release to be in our hands before January 1st, 2007, so you’ll want to be familiar with the process…take a moment and go to: www.texasmusicawards.org to read about the award process, award guidelines, past nominees and recipients, etc. It is here you will also find out how to submit a nomination for your favorite artist!

Please note: The TMAs are NOT a popularity contest like most other awards you may be familiar with (you know the ones, where the same ten or so folks are the only nominees year after year). The music really does matter, and it is because of that reason that nominations and voting are taken very seriously. All past award recipients have a place on the Voting Board, and each Voting Board member is asked to spend a few hours in their voting process. They are provided private online ballots where they listen and learn about all nominees in all categories. The public is also allowed to cast their votes, which count as a percentage of the final tallies. So go to the above website to learn all about it. Then, when nominations are accepted beginning January 1st, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge necessary to make your nomination count!
