Will He Be The One?
Reports the Waxahachie Daily Light:
Jeremiah Richey, 25, a 1998 graduate of Waxahachie High School and a former drum major of the Waxahachie Indian band, will perform tonight on the premier episode of ABC’s “The One: Making a Music Star.”
“The One” chronicles the lives of 11 contestants vying for a contract with Interscope/Geffen/A&M Label Group. Similar to “American Idol,” contestants will perform live once a week, then rely on audience members to vote by calling in their vote, text messaging or voting online at abc.com. The following episode will announce the results, eliminating one contestant a week for 10 weeks.
“We’re just excited for him to have this opportunity and this exposure,” said Richey’s mother, Gina Lewis of Waxahachie. “Singing is his passion and this is what he wants to do for his career. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
“He has a lot of friends in Waxahachie and they will announce his hometown as Waxahachie, Texas,” she said.
Richey attended Dallas Baptist University, graduating in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a minor in Biblical studies. He is on leave from his job at H.D. Vest Financial Services Company as a mentor program coordinator.
