The Lymbyc Systym
n.
A band consisting of two brothers from Phoenix, AZ. One plays keys, One plays drums as well as using digital effects from his laptop. The bands music has groove, the bands music has "jam", the bands music has power. The Lymbyc Systym can affect the deep brain structures of all mammals. When listened too, the music can spark different forms of behavior and emotion.

------------------------------
After seeing The Lymbyc Systym twice this past year in Dallas, a few of us went to see them last night in Denton. I don't normally make it out to Denton for too many shows, but I was not missing this. The Lymbyc Systym have played around 600 shows, and nearly 100 since the last time we saw them 6 months ago. The Brothers Bell (Jared - keys, Michael - drums) put together a terrific set last night and made the drive well worth it for all of us.
Here was the setlist...
UNT 3
Selamat
New Song
Birds
Carved By Glaciers
First thing's first... Anytime you see a band 3 times in a 12 month period, you hope for some variety. Last night's first 3 songs were all new for me. UNT 3 was a HUGE opener. Clocking in at around 15 minutes, it sounds like 2 different songs put together. Some of the most impressive drumming I have seen in a while came during this song, as it seemed to go on and on forever. Selamat is a beautiful song that comes from the more chill side of the Brothers Bell. The new song was great as well. Birds and Carved By Glaciers closed the show and they were downright nasty. For a great version of Birds, check out the "live in Dallas" cd from last year. (last nights version swamped it though) As for Carved By Glaciers (the final song last night and the title of their first EP) this could be one of my favorite songs ever. It has it all and runs on pure emotion. The way Jared and Michael work together as a unit really shines during CBG and last night, I was able to hear the subtle nuances and changes the band has added to develop the song even furthur since the last time they were here.
If you haven't seen them, I highly reccomend you check them out and see them the next time they are in your area. They will no doubt rock your limbic system.
