Today marks a special day in the local Dallas Hip Hop & Rap community. The new Ozone Magazine that hit the stands of every 7-11 store in Dallas today contains an exclusive article in entitled 'Dallas Got Next'! Written by Damage Control Radio & HoustonSoReal's Matt Sonzala, the article explains to Ozone’s 75,000 readers how and when the seeds were planted to start advancing the hip-hop & rap music scene in Dallas. The four page panoramic picture below the article, which shows 65% of DFW’s hip-hop artists, is a result of the crop sprouted throughout the Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex.
You should thank Ozone Magazine for exposing the Dallas hip-hop & rap scene in their new issue by stopping by your neighborhood 7-11 and picking up a copy for your collection, or just to read about history in the making.
Side Notes
-To all DFW artists: Please capitalize off of this national press we are now receiving whether you are in the picture or not. This isn't about who is in the picture. It's about the whole scene because when the industry comes, they're looking for who is ready, not who was in the picture. Being in the picture and ready at the same time doesn't hurt though.
-Also in this month’s Ozone Magazine is a profile of DFW artist Big Chief in the ‘Patiently Waiting’ section.
-The Ozone Magazine Awards take place Aug. 6th. For more information visit http://www.ozonemag.com.
-Coming Soon: I’ll be talking with JB from Ozone Magazine in an upcoming TexasGigs interview that you don't want to miss.
In addition to his work with Urban South Entertainment (www.urbansouth.us), Edward "Pookie" Hall is also the Dallas contributor & Rep. for Ozone Magazine

It's obvious that the Dallas Hip-hop/Rap Scene is next to blow up... We have too much talent contained here... and the majors are finally seeing that. It's only a matter of time... Then after the Hip-Hop/Rap Scene Internationally explodes, the R&B/Pop scene will shortly follow -- God Bless and says the same. Just watch and see!!!

We got next as soon as artist start making hits. We are a major market and nothin but garbage is being promoted. I make hits everyday because I record engineer and produce on tha guttar level, and make sure the artist don't spit no garbage on my tracks ya dig. But some of those cats will never get heard because of the polotics in this game. Our radio stations don't support local talent without that mighty dollar. All it takes is 3 good hit singles that rock tha clubs, A very good marketing person like Terry McGill, 1500+ BDS spins on BDS recognized radio stations, and monster tracks from AG Productions are the keys that will get the first big artist hot in Dallas. I'll see yall cats that make it on the other side ya dig. The industry ain't comin to Dallas, the hitmaker is the one who gone get it crunk ya dig! Nobody cares about good artist and hot lines anymore. People wanna dance to your hits and hear ya album later!
