The Bone is Alive and Well
Sometimes volunteer journalism, like traditional, misses a key fact.
Yesterday on TexasGigs, we ran a story asking for any information regarding the status of Deep Ellum's The Bone, with a lead saying that it looked like the club was closed. We were wrong.
We had received reports from local music fans that the club did not appear to be in use. Combined with a series of unreturned phone calls and the disappearance of The Bone's website, we wondered if the club had been shut down.

Since posting the information request yesterday, we have received comments from patrons of The Bone and an email from the club's owner. We are happy to be able to report that The Bone is still very much an active club in Deep Ellum, and they say they've had some of their biggest nights recently. Their website is currently down because they are working on a brand new site. In the meantime, you can check out the club's MySpace site.
My apologies to the good folks at The Bone on this one. We had enough information to ask the questions, but not enough for the headline and lead that we ran. We appreciate them getting back with us quickly and being good sports.
