New CD and Music DVD Releases

DVD New Releases

Bad Religion: Live at the Palladium

96 minutes of career spanning music captured live at the Hollywood Palladium. Ten Camera shoot mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound. Includes six music videos, rare live TV appearances from 1981 - 1983 and band interviews.

Casualties: Can't Stop Us

Live performances from their tours of Mexico and Japan, this DVD includes insane live performances (over 20 songs) and all the behind the scenes mayhem you would expect following the Casualties around the world.

Pure Punk Rock

This two hour DVD includes live performances, music videos and interviews from the Action, Blood Or Whiskey, the Casualties, Cheap Sex, Defiance, the Havoc, the Lower Class Brats, the Messengers, the Scarred and more.

Little Willies: Little Willies

The Little Willies are Lee Alexander (bass), Jim Campilongo (electric guitar), Norah Jones (piano, vocals), Richard Julian (guitar, vocals) and Dan Rieser (drums). The album is full of covers and originals, from the revved-up western swing of Fred Rose’s 'Roly Poly' and Willie Nelson’s 'I Gotta Get Drunk' to the cutting wit of Kris Kristofferson’s 'Best Of All Possible Worlds'; from the poignancy of Townes Van Zandt’s 'No Place To Fall' to the cosmic absurdity of their own 'Lou Reed'. For those who find Norah Jones' solo albums a bit too mellow.

Scarface: My Homies Part 2

2 CD set. Scarface is by far the best rapper to come out of Houston. All of America will again attest to this fact after hearing this album. This is his 1st solo album in two years and as usual he has brought the pain, but this time he brought some friends: Ice Cube, Lil Flip, Bun B, Devin the Dude, Common, Mike Jones, Juvenille and Z-Ro are just a few of the stars featured on this must-have piece.

David Gilmour: On An Island

On An Island is the third David Gilmour solo album and his first studio recording since Pink Floyd's 1994 multi- platinum The Division Bell. From the first moments of the sound collage that begins 'On An Island', you know it's a special experience that not only bears comparison with the best of Pink Floyd, but also confirms their lead guitarist and singer as an outstanding solo artist. Here he reveals a personal vision and a breadth of styles - folk, jazz, orchestral and rock - brought together as a unified piece by his lyrical guitar playing and instantly recognizable voice. On An Island is a collection of songs and instrumentals that had its genus in the critically acclaimed 2002 London Festival Hall concerts. Gilmour has stepped out of his super-group to discover he's still at his peak - and he's rightly pleased.

Juvenile: Reality Check

Featuring guest artists Ludacris, Trey Songz, Bun B, 8 Ball, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Brian McKnight and others, Reality Check is Juvenile's most well-rounded album to date. As for the album tilte, Juvenile explains, "That's where I'm at right now in my life. I feel like everybody needs a reality check. I have em' all the time. Nobody's perfect." Then, smiling wide enough to show all his diamond-encrusted teeth, he finishes: "But I feel like I got the perfect album."

Matisyahu: Youth

Matisyahu, one of the most-talked about new artists of 2005, comes out with his brand new studio album Youth. The followup to his highly-acclaimed Live At Stubb's, features production by Bill Laswell, along with Jimmy Douglass and Ill Factor, and features 11 new songs including recent live favorites 'Fire of Heaven/Altar of Earth (Fire's Burning)', 'Jerusalem', 'Ancient Lullaby (Mist Risin')', and the title track, 'Youth'. Don't miss one of the most anticipated albums of 2006.

Van Morrison: Pay The Devil

Pay The Devil is composed of 15 tracks; three of these are originals and 12 are covers of some of Van Morrison’s favorite classic country songs, including 'Your Cheatin Heart', 'Things Have Gone To Pieces' and 'Big Blue Diamonds'.

Agnostic Front: Live At Cbgb's

The year was 1982...the place, New York City. Who'd guess that over twenty years later a band first called Zoo Crew would emerge as the seldom contested, always respected godfathers of hardcore. This power packed release features a full set live recording of the band's dominating hometown performance at CBGB's New York. Also includes a bonus DVD.

Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass: Whipped Cream & Other Delights

Once upon a time, there was a guy with a horn, a girl in a sea of whipped cream and a bunch of songs that became American classics. Now, 40 years later, Herb Alpert is back, with new solos mixed in alongside even newer grooves by some of the most innovative artists around. There's even a brand-new girl on the cover. With Whipped Cream & Other Delights Rewhipped, some of the artists he's influenced have created a fun and modern tribute to his landmark album. Rewhipped, indeed.

Buzzcocks: Flat Pack Philosophy

Flat-Pack Philosophy marks the fifth release from the Buzzcocks Pete Shelley, Steve Diggle, Tony Barber, and Phillip Barker. In true punk fashion, Flat-Pack Philosophy packs 14 songs into 36 minutes and in places sounds like the best bits of every classic Buzzcocks single carefully welded together. It continues the great Buzzcocks tradition of romantic metaphors and of Diggle’s implicit literary references, and will certainly continue the ongoing success of this band.

Campbell/Lanegan: Ballad Of The Broken Seas

There's a certain "beauty & the beast" quality to the greatest male/female, singer/songwriter duos. Consider Jane Birken hooking up with Serge Gainsburg, or Nancy Sintra and Lee Hazelwood. And so it is with "Ballad of the Broken Seas", an album length collaboration between Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan. There's a similar contrast between Isobel's aching, pristine chill of a voice and Lanegan's wounded, regret-stewed burr.

Neko Case: Fox Confessor Brings The Flood

Neko is a major poet by any standard, a songwriter less interested perhaps in traditional narrative form than in distilling a pure moment of time. She claims no genre, nor utilizes any classic formula for her songs and singing. More than anything she thrives in the spaces in between her music. After two years in the making, Fox Confessor Brings The Flood is in many ways the sum total of her journey.

Covenant: Skyshaper

The most anticipated electro pop album for 2006 has arrived. A towering inferno set to put dance floors on fire. Covenant has once again created an album of monumental proportions free of any filter, with songs ranging from infectious beats to electro-clash to quiet beauty. Creating Skyshaper was a labor of love for the band. Locked inside a studio for months without distractions, Covenant gave the creative process their full attention, and fans will not be disappointed.

Delays: You See Colours

Southampton's Delays release their brand album You See Colours. This is the follow up to their top twenty- debut album Faded Seaside Glamour. The album is preceeded by the first single 'Valentine'. 11 tracks.

Goldfrapp: Supernature

Exclusive US pressing of their third album features a bonus track on the audio disc, 'Beautiful' which was previously available on the Japanese pressing and as a B-Side in the UK. The DVD features totally exclusive content that was not featured on the International CD/DVD pressing. Full DVD content, the album Supernature in 5.1 & Stereo, Little Bits of Goldfrapp - Documentary, Jacko and the Poet in Frappworld - Animation by Andreas Nilsson, Ooh La La (Music Video), Number 1 (Music Video), Ride a White Horse (Live in London Video), Satin Chic (Special Perfomance Film), Oh La La - Little Pictures and a Photogallery.

Grateful Dead: Blues For Allah

Following the Dead's early Warner Bros. LP's and their evolution from a San Francisco hippie phenomenon to one of the biggest bands on the planet, these five album masterpieces chronicle the creatively expansive portion of their long, strange, and amazing trip beginning in 1873 when they launchd their own label. Rhino's remastered & expanded editions celebrate the Dead's immortal music with state-of- the-art sonics and a wealth of fresh-from-the- archives bonus rarities.

Hotel Lights: Hotel Lights

The stunning debut from Ben Folds Five founder Darren Jessee w/ help from members of Sparklehorse, Archers Of Loaf and Fountains Of Wayne. Hotel Lights is an album you'll want to hear every day, with pop songs that you get closer to after each listen.

Jethro Tull: Aqualung-Live

One of the biggest albums in the history of classic rock (over 7 milliion sold!) now performed live for the first time! Contains the classic rock favorites 'Crossedeyed Mary', 'Locomotive Breath', & 'Aqualung'. Contains 20 bonus minutes of interviews with founding members Ian Anderson & Martin Barre.

Kris Kristofferson: This Old Road

Kris Kristofferson has always identified himself first and foremost as a writer, and true writers know that what works best is giving a piece of themselves to the listener. With his latest album, This Old Road, Kristofferson lays a chunk of his own soul on every track. This beautifully sparse recording, produced by Don Was (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones), puts an emphasis on his fine lyrics and distinctive voice by featuring Kristofferson, his guitar, and harmonica. Subtle accompaniment is added by Was (bass, piano, backing vocals), longtime sidekick Stephen Bruton (guitar, mandolin, backing vocals) and Jim Keltner (drums). The album is so intimate it makes the listener feel as if they are sitting in Kristofferson’s living room while he picks and sings just for them.

Lawrence Arms: Oh! Calcutta!

Compared to great threepiece bands like Jawbreaker, and the more contemporary Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms further develop their frantic version of ornate Midwestern power pop with this release. Highlights include 'Are You There Margaret? It's Me, God' and 'Like A Recod Player'.

Lil' Wayne: Carter Ii-Chopped & Screwed

Lil Wayne's new album Tha Carter II gets the Chopped & Screwed treatment by one of the most recognized screw architects in the game including DJ Michael '5000' Watts of Swisha House records.

Willy Mason: Where The Humans Eat

Featuring in just about every 'up and coming' poll at the end of 2004, Willy Mason is shaping up to be the sleeper crossover of 2005. Hailing from Massachusetts Willy has almost single-handedly re- established the singer/songwriter genre in times when we are overrun with shambolic garage rock and over- produced pop. Possessing a vocal maturity that has commanded impressive comparisons to Johnny Cash and Tom Waits, this 19 year old's debut LP Where The Humans Eat has been met with huge critical acclaim. The album incorporates Mason’s on-the-road philosophy, with his travels provoking political expressions and emotional intensity. On tracks such as 'Hard Hand To Hold' and 'Oxygen', his multifaceted approach to music forms an unsettling but pleasantly jarring accompaniment to his sophisticated musings.

Mogwai: Mr. Beast

Though there are still hints aplenty of the subtle beauty that adorned big chunks of "Rock Action" and "Happy Songs For Happy People", there's an equal portion of head crushers on this one that'll leave you gasping for air. "An ultramodern rock masterpiece" - Mojo. Limited edition includes a DVD in a hardbound book.

Mudhoney: Under A Billion Suns

For 18 years, Mudhoney has proved to be one of the most consistently electrifying acts to survive the grunge implosion, whatever that was. The wolfish howls of singer Mark Arm, soulful splatterings of guitarist Steve Turner, and frenzied fills of drummer Dan Peters have produced nine albums to date, most of which are considered neo-garage classics.Produced by three notable knobsters, Phil Ek, Johnny Sangster, and Tucker Martine.

Nightmares On Wax: In A Space Outta Sound

Taking a penchant for mid-90’s golden era hip-hop production flourishes, a deep love for tipsy Jamaican dub and a working knowledge of leftfield European electro, Nightmares On Wax have added to their already impressive catalog with In A Space Outta Sound. With a stronger dubwise rocksteady vibe than past NOW releases, the new album is still firmly rooted in the dusty funk that has anchored past collaborations and remixes with hip-hop heavy hitters like De La Soul, Roots Manuva, Black Eyed Peas’ frontman Will.i.Am and RJD2.

Public Enemy: Rebirth Of A Nation

Public Enemy is set to once again blow up the spot with their latest offering, the Paris-produced Rebirth Of A Nation. Featuring guest spots by Paris, Dead Prez, Kam, The Conscious Daughters, MC Ren (of NWA), and Immortal Technique. Rebirth Of A Nation is an exercise in controlled chaos, as Paris pulls out all of the stops to present the finest work yet for what is arguably the most important hip-hop group ever.

Revolting Cocks: Cocked & Loaded

Revolting Cocks is the side project of Ministry mainman Al Jourgensen. The CD was produced by Al Jourgensen and is the first Revolting Cocks record in more than a decade features the contributions of guest artists Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Stevie Banch (Spyder Baby) and Phildo Owen (Skatenigs) and Robin Zander (Cheap Trick).

Smut Peddlers: Porn Again (Revisited)

Originally released on Rawkus/Priority records in 2001, Porn Again went on to soundscan close to 50,000 copies in the US alone. Equipped with raw beats, chillin' subject matter, and superstar guest appearences, this album has been out-of-print for close to 5 years!!!! Porn Again features the likes of KOOL G RAP, KOOL KEITH, COPYWRITE, RA THE RUGGEDMAN, and the lovable BEETLEJUICE (see LP cover) of HOWARD STERN fame. As a special added feature, the good folkes at Eastern Conference have included 4 bonus Smut Peddler songs that have never been released on CD before, including the B side hit "Red Light" produced by the ALCHEMIST. If you missed it the first time, Porn Again is now back and better! then ever!!! .

So They Say: Antidote For Irony

So They Say debuted with an EP on Fearless in June 2005 and put their career in motion. Last summer they performed at the Midwest Warped Tour shows, then toured with the likes of Amber Pacific, The Junior Varsity, Receiving End Of Sirens, Lorene Drive, and A Change Of Pace. In November, they recorded this, their debut full-length. For fans of Armor For Sleep, Thrice, and The Starting Line.

Stereolab: Fab Four Suture

Spin Magazine hailed Stereolab as one of pop's 50 most influential ensembles. Over fifteen prolific years, the band has produced qualitatively consistent and unique music that has been instantly recognized by media. In addition to over a dozen glittering LPs, their back catalog is littered with fan-pleasing gems: limited editions, one-off collaborations, split singles, etc. This CD/double 10-compilation also includes songs from the previous 7-inch series released in September 2005. "England's lounge-pop heroes" - Blender. "Stereolab's unmistakable cosmonaut pop...was a trademarked stamp of the '90s. No one else managed to duplicate their retro-futurist harmony or even come close to naming their albums with the same pre-Fridge Magnet Poetry serendipitous absurdity" - Fader.

Witch: Witch

The group Witch was born from a marriage of apparently contradictory influences. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and his longtime friend Dave Sweetapple were interested in forming a hard rock band.
