A little over a year ago Jerry Rutherford invited Amy Curnow to come on the Weekend 101 Show, and I quickly fell under her spell.
Amy is the lead singer for the band Shanghai 5, a band you are so going to fall in love with right now!
While on tour the band has been filming a documentary for PBS 'Roadtrip Nation,' in which they interviewed folks from around the country involved in arts, music and design. Keep up with all their adventures here. Michele Laudig wrote a divine little piece on it here for the Phoenix New Times.
Shanghai 5's debut album, Under a Tent recently hit #39 on the CMJ College Charts and continues to work its way up the charts.
Shanghai 5 will perform at the ultra-fab Wall of Sound Festival on Sunday, April 9th at 1:00 pm on the upstairs stage. Win free tickets here. Or go here to purchase tickets.
You can check out more on Shanghai 5 here and here and here.
