Ricky Skaggs’s Seal of Approval

If you haven't heard Cadillac Sky, even if you're not a bluegrass fan, I promise you this: You are missing out. This is one talented bunch of pickers and singers. (Check out a few songs on their MySpace page.)

Things are looking up with C-Sky these days. The group is busy touring America, although they still squeeze in a few DFW dates here and there. They've got a filmmaker following the band, and they just signed a recording contract with Skaggs Family Records.

C-Sky self-produced its debut album, Blind Man Walking, which contains 13 original songs penned mostly by Brian Simpson, the group's lead singer and mandolin player. Simpson is an award-winning songwriter who's had songs recorded by artists such as George Strait, Gretchen Wilson, Diamond Rio, Jo Dee Messina, Neal McCoy and Kenny Rogers.

Via press release, Ricky Skaggs said: "When I heard Cadillac Sky for the first time, I heard some of the freshest new bluegrass I had heard in a long time. They write all of their songs. Their vocals just killed me, and they have a new sound. I wanted them for Skaggs Family Records. Anytime you sign a brand new group, you're taking a chance, but with a CD like this, I was willing to go for it. They're great!"

From the band's MySpace page, their latest blog entry says the band is "so very excited about the good, great, and awesome things (Blaize) which are going to be happening in the near future. I won't go into too many details 'cause we all love surprises, but I will say that it's looking like a new cd may be in order (which is a der since everyone has heard at least four ((4)) tracks on our home page) and a possible chance for Cadillac Sky to run for office in 2008. That's the Presidential office if you were wondering. See, it's all part of the master plan, the one where you, our friends and compatriots go absolutely nuts at the mere thought of Cadillac Sky and its subsidaries. (Whatever that meant)

"No, but back on track (O.T.T.R.), we are pumped about being on Mr. Skaggs' label and can't wait for everything to fall right in place. July is the expected due date, the time when you pitch a tent at Wal-Mart and stand in long lines in the CD section to be one of the first to buy this life changing musical odyssey. Maybe if you're classy you can pitch your tent at Borders or Best Buy. I know that Borders won't care, we've had people bring lawn chairs in to watch us play. They wanted to feel right at home.

"So, tell everyone about this exciting news, spread the word like an nuclear bomb spreads radiation (awful). And help us get our 1000 friends, I thought it was going to be by the first of May, but, we'll extend the time frame a little.

"We love you, drink whole milk, eat lots of okra and dance wildly in excitement for our new record deal, Booo-Yahhh."
