Info-Red’s most recent hip-hop album Weapons of Mass Construction is all about lyrical detail. It’s the kind of album that you have to actively listen to or you’ll miss something. Then again, its the kind of record that will make even the most active listener miss something. Which means, its the kind of record that you can play over and over again and always find something new.
Info is a master at spinning rhyme after rhyme in directions that will catch his audience by surprise. He uses background rhythms that can be broken down into straight eights on all the CD’s tracks - giving him space to showcase his lyrical talents. But anyone who has ever met Info-Red knows that he is every bit as interested in showcasing other people around him as he is in featuring himself. That’s why you see a steady stream of guest artists such as Blaze Won, Headkrack, Mes The Jive Turkey, Molekular, Tahiti, Nucleus and others throughout the album. Despite each artist bringing his own style and talent to the CD, every track on the album still prominently reflects Info’s personality – and that keeps it fun.
If its all about the beat for you, then this album may do little more than keep your head bobbing. But if you are an engaged listener that takes note of every word, Weapons of Mass Construction will be endlessly entertaining and well worth your money.
Weapons of Mass Construction is set to be re-released by Hypnotic Tunez this August

Vans Warped Tour 2009 Warped just began -- Dallas is the fifth stop -- so Bad Religion, NOFX et al will still be fresh. This year, they've got fewer stages and longer sets (40 minutes instead of 30). Get there early for Colorado duo 3OH!3 and Brit punkers Gallows (pictured, credit Jay West). More info
