Pixies: LoudQUIETloud: A Film About The Pixies
When college rock darlings the Pixies broke up in 1992, their fans were shocked and dismayed. When they reunited in 2004, those same fans and legions of new listeners were ecstatic and filled with high hopes. loudQUIETloud follows the rehearsals and the warm up shows for the full-fledged, sold out reunion tour. It also catalogs, in the cinema verite style of the Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter" and Bob Dylan's "Don't Look Back", the less glamorous side of the touring band lifestyle, getting as close to this enigmatic act as anyone is ever likely to get. LoudQUIETloud captures the Pixies in a once in a lifetime chance at rock n roll redemption. Original soundtrack by Daniel Lanois.
Slipknot: Maggots
Slipknot's mix of grinding, post-Korn alternative metal, Marilyn Manson-esque neo-shock rock, and rap-metal helped make them one of the most popular bands in the so-called nu-metal explosion of the late '90s. But even more helpful was their theatrical, attention-grabbing image: the band always performed in identical industrial jump suits and homemade Halloween masks, and added to its mysterious anonymity by adopting the numbers zero through eight as stage aliases. Add to that a lyrical preoccupation with darkness and nihilism, and an affectionately insulting name for their fans ("Maggots"), and Slipknot's blueprint for nu-metal success was set. Also includes additional interview material and comments.
Who: Who - The Vegas Job
"An 87 minute private event/one night only performance that has never been seen (unless you were in the audience that night). Recorded in 1999, the band performed for the first time in 20 years as a 5-member rock group, and the three surviving ‘original members’ following Keith Moon’s death (Daltery, Townsend, Entwistle) are joined by Drummer Zak Starkey (Ringo’s son) and keyboardist John Bundrick as they perform such hits as 'Pinball Wizard', 'Can’t Explain', 'Baba O’Riley', 'Behind Blue Eyes', 'My Generation' and more. The set list is phenomenal, the performance is intimate and the ''one-night-only'' show is a MUST HAVE for Who fans and Rock fans in general. Includes interviews with Daltrey and Entwistle.
Josh Groban: Awake
The Josh Groban phenomenon continues with Awake, his third studio album. Both of the extraordinary singer’s first two studio discs have been certified five times platinum, with his most recent, 2003’s Closer, charting #1 pop. For Grobanites, his uplifting music rises ever higher on Awake. Awake’s 13 new songs show off the Grammy®-nominated Groban’s remendous growth as a vocalist, producer and songwriter. His hands-on approach in the creative process of Awake is reflected in several Groban-penned and -produced songs, along with musical contributions from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dave Matthews, Glen Ballard, Eric Mouquet, John Ondrasik Vandrasak (Five for Fighting), Marius DeVries, David Foster and Herbie Hancock.
Keith Urban: Love Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing
Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing contains 13 brand new tracks and is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Co-produced by Dann Huff and Urban, Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, includes ''Once In A Lifetime,'' the album’s first single, which upon its release last month became the highest debuting single since the inception of the Billboard Chart. Highlights of Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing include the bold, contagious rockers ''Faster Car'' and ''I Told You So''. Songs such as ''Shine'' and ''Used to the Pain'' exhibit Urban’s ability to produce infectious melodies that patiently build to a musical climax.
Isobel Campbell: Milk White Sheets
Isobel Campbell releases her second solo album, and second record of 2006, Milk White Sheets. The follow-up to the Mercury Prize nominated collaboration with Mark Lanegan - Ballad Of The Broken Seas - finds the former Belle and Sebastian chanteuse and cellist drawing her inspiration more from the various folk traditions of the British Isles, than the classic country leanings of Ballad. Still working primarily with principle guitarist Jim McCulloch (Soup Dragons), Isobel collaborates with James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins and Perfect Circle) and her touring band-mate Eugene Kelly (Vaselines, Captain America, Eugenius).

Harvey recorded many sessions with John Peel over the years. "John loved the sessions and was thrilled to have Polly record so many for his show. He considered her a wonderful artist and they were great friends. It's fantastic that they're coming out on CD. I think he'd be very proud." -Louise Kattenhorn, Producer, The John Peel Show.

Owen: At Home With Owen
Chicago's Mike Kinsella (Cap'n Jazz, Joan Of Arc, American Football, Owls) is the sole creative output behind Owen. From an artist who has, in the past, recorded entire albums in his childhood bedroom berating lost love and personal missteps, it's a new chapter. The end result is this record, a new extension in the lineage of Owen's music. And being at home with oneself never sounded so freeing. "Kinsella brings to mind the acousticity of Elliott Smith...with subtexts that range from the somber folk reflection of Nick Drake and the cracked emotionalism of Paul Westerberg to the glorious pop melancholy of Joe Pernice" - Harp.
Pavement: Wowee Zowee: Sordid Sentinels
Originally released in April 1995, fresh off the success of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, the band recorded a deliberately chaotic and eclectic album that sounded nothing like its predecessor. With influences from the Groundhogs to the Frogs, Captain Beefheart to the more obscure mid-'80s central California hardcore bands, Wowee Zowee confused critics and alienated fans. Yet it became a fan favorite over time. The songs have a darkness that now seems appropriate and with Bryce Goggin at the mixing desk, the production was the band's most rocking to date. This super-deluxe re-mastered comp contains an embossed slipcase with two CDs and a 64-page perfect-bound book, fifty tracks total; eighteen unreleased recordings, nine non-album B-sides, four compilation tracks, five BBC Evening Session tracks and much more.
Residents: River Of Crime: Episodes 1-5
For over thirty years, The Residents have been visually aware and tech-savvy musical innovators. This record is a horrifying, twisted, often hysterical account of a Residents' friend who has somehow become convinced he's become a crime magnet. The River Of Crime episodes were introduced earlier this year via a unique CD-R subscription package with limited distribution. Now, for the first time, all five original episodes and the original Residents instrumental score are available in a traditional pre-recorded, limited edition, double CD package.
Shortbus: Soundtrack
The much rumored-about new film from John Cameron Mitchell ("Hedwig And The Angry Inch") comes to the US this fall following its sold-out premiere at the Cannes Film Festival where it received a ten-minute standing ovation. "Shortbus" is an engaging study of love and lust; a playful comedy about oddball New Yorkers in search of love, happiness, and the perfect orgasm. The soundtrack includes all the original songs from the film, composed by singer/songwriter Scott Matthew. Other contributors include Yo La Tengo, Animal Collective, Azure Ray, The Ark, and Hidden Cameras.
Slip: Eisenhower
For the past few years The Slip's heroic approach to rock has managed to reach countless new fans while stil inspiring the faithful. Eisenhower stands as the most cohesive and evocative work the band has released to date - raw analog passion and accessible melodic soncraft combined. Showcasing lush production and thickly layered instrumentation, the new album ranges easily from intimate, hushed vocals to thunderous big-beat, anthem sincerity. Co-Produced by The Slip and Matthew Ellard (Elliot Smith, Billy Bragg & Wilco, Morphine) except ''Ariplane/Primitive'', engineered and mixed by Drew Malamud (Stars, Metric, The Dears).
Textures: Drawing Circles
Are you looking for new sensations? Don't look any further! After Polars, which was a rather extraordinary, intricate and effective teaser, Textures has literally hit the nail in the coffin with Drawin Circles. This album lifts the band into higher spheres. Textures have become a major player in the scene all over Europe and with only one album under their wing, having played many venues everywhere as headliners, as part of a tour, and participating on the many prestigious European Festivals such as Lowland (NL) or Fury Fest (FR). This new album only confirms their increasing popularity and talent: original, imaginative and innovative are only a few ways to describe Textures when listening to Drawing Circles - words are not enough to describe this perfect hybrid of metal and hardcore. CD World Pick!
Frank Zappa: Trans-Fusion
Trance-Fusion is the name of an album of guitar solos completed by Frank Zappa shortly before his death, but not released until 2006.
