Borman Elementary plans reading activities
The staff at Borman Elementary School has planned several activities to encourage students and their families to read more.
The school is sponsoring its first family literacy night of the year with a Charlotte’s Web Family Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the school, 1201 Parvin.
This kicks off a One Book-One School Program, said Mary Pruit, library media specialist for Borman and coordinator for the events. Families will be able to purchase copies of Charlotte’s Web in Spanish and English, attend a petting zoo and participate in other activities.
Rick Riordan, author of The Lightning Thief, will be on campus from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27. He will be presenting a reading program to fourth- and fifth-graders and a writing workshop to the fourth-graders.
On Thursday, Nov. 30, the school will have its annual Family Fun Science Night.
