Trees reopening?

Below is some of what's found on a new MySpace page called Trees Lives:

Well we do not know where to begin. It was a sad day when Trees closed it's doors. It was the best venue in Deep Ellum with an incredible history. We will just state a simple fact. We are re-opening the TREES VENUE later this year. It will have new owners and a new name. But we will keep the same standards and quality of bands. It will be better than Trees. So if you loved Trees don't worry, the venue will be back better than before.

ATTN BANDS: If you want to get on our roster for the future, please send us a MySpace message.

We have been getting a lot of messages with questions. However, for some reason MySpace will not let us reply. So we will Reply here and in our blogs.

QUESTION: Who are you? ANSWER: We currently own a venue, but would like to bring the Trees venue back to life. So we are going to move our current business into the Trees building.

QUESTION: Will you have the same management? ANSWER: No. We have our own management.

There are also some pictures with this caption: "Ahh the memories. These are photos taken in the dark last night, Nov 9 2006. As you can see, everything is pretty much the same. It is going to take a lot of work to get things cleaned up and up to code. We just wanted to show you how it looks now."

Here are three of the photos, stay tuned....

Mike Orren, says:

Sam has more info:

Owners of Fat Daddys are trying to bring it back. But given their alcohol scheme (see Sam's report), it won't be the old trees, for sure.

Brad Williamson, says:

I hope they're giving up the name "Trees" because there's a legal issue that restricts them from maintaining it. Otherwise, there's no good reason for trashing such a historically valuable name.

They probably have some monster corporate entity that's buying the naming rights...

"CLUB Kelloggs Corn Flakes" just doesn't have the same appeal as "Trees" for some reason.

Naaaah... I kid, I kid. I'm sure that whomever the new owners are will revive that building in a manner that stays true to the old Trees' personality we've always loved.

What do you think?
