Bell High School Band Ranked Second in Nation
HURST The LD Bell High School Marching Band capped off an award-winning fall season with yet another win, by taking second place in the Bands of America (BOA) Grand National competition in Indianapolis October 11. There were 93 invited bands from around the country vying for top awards.
In addition to being the second-ranked band in the country, the Blue Raider Band also won the National Outstanding Music Award.
Garnering top honors at BOA events has become a Bell tradition. The band was ranked third last year, and has ranked fourth and fifth in previous years.
The 300-member band's show was entitled, "The Remaining," featuring "Hound of Heaven," by James Syler; "Dracula," by Phillip Feeney; "King Kong," by James Newton Howard; "A Beautiful Mind," by James Horner; and an original composition by Donald Hill and Aaron Guidry.
Jeremy Earnhart is director of bands for LD Bell High School. The other band directors are Jolette Wine, Nick Thomas, Brandon Holt and Wes Cartwright.
