Update 11/27
So, we've put in about 70 hours each in the past four days, and we all really wanted to go live today. But as we started trying to tie the last slipknots, something just didn't feel right. We've got everything technologically working, but dammit, it just didn't flow. And we don't want to drop anything on you that is half-baked. I've seen how this town reacts to an ill-conceived website (re)launch, and I don't want to tempt fate.
So, I'm eating some crow right now. But, if it doesn't give me too much indigestion, I'm gonna go get some sleep, as is everyone else, and we're gonna re-attack this tomorrow with fresh eyes. And hopefully later in the week, we'll all be swilling champagne in celebration.
I'm not saying Pegasus News will be perfect when it launches, but after all the smack I've talked for the last 27 months, it better be damn good. It's good right now, and we'll share it with you as soon as we kick it up another notch. And, as people around here keep reminding me, missing a deadline on a two-year project by 1% isn't the end of the world.
And on a side note, no one on our team should feel bad about this. We've been trying to stuff ten pounds in a five pound sack in a quarter the time anyone could reasonably expect. I'm flabbergasted by the effort everyone has put in, especially the past week. I've never been so proud of a group I've worked with before. Now everybody go get some well-deserved rest...
PEGASUS NEWS WORLD HEADQUARTERS Just a heads-up for folks who don't read my blog regularly: We are on the verge of launching Pegasus News, our site that will cover all areas of local information -- not just music.
Right now, it looks like Monday, although we still reserve the right to slip if the internet gods are cruel. We had previously announced that we would shut TexasGigs down over the holiday so we could finish moving things around, but that looks like it won't be necessary. However, we wanted to give fair warning that we won't be updating the site as frequently over the rest of the holiday weekend.
That's just a temporary thing - We'll be back in full force next week with the same great music coverage on TexasGigs, which will do double-duty as Pegasus' music section.
A couple people have asked me if TG user accounts will work on the new site: They will indeed, and all of your profile info and comments will be retained. You'll just have a lot more on which to comment.
Hang in there over the weekend, and get ready. We hope you're gonna find the new site to be hellacool.
The author shall never again publicly announce a deadline.

We should take the opening speech from "Patton" and project it here on the wall on continuous loop.
