Mesquite Police Department aims program at middle schoolers
The Mesquite Police Department has designed a new program called "What If" aimed at educating local middle schoolers on the risks of drinking, drug use, and violence. The program begins with a video called "Be Good Johnny" that encourages the middle schoolers to be good students and avoid running with the wrong crowds. Then the program, which will be shown at all Mesquite ISD middle schools, employs area high school students to relay the dangers of drug and alcohol use through acting and singing.
It's unclear whether the news of this program has given Mesquite residents confidence knowing that the police department thinks it can sway kids from drugs and alcohol with a musical.
