Grand Prairie Speedway will be IMCA sanctioned in 2007

Reports the Grand Prairie Times on the track that has made a nice turnaround since being bought by Jimmy and Kristi Johnson five years ago:

Grand Prairie Speedway will sport IMCA Modifieds, Jeff’s Performance Southern SportMods, and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks in 2007. Modified drivers will run for points in the SuperFlow South Central Region, Stock Car drivers will vie in the Destroyer Chassis Southern Region.

“I like the parity in IMCA. Everybody stands a chance to win,” said Johnson, a former street stock and limited modi fied competitor. “I think the claim rule is wonderful if it’s used properly by the drivers. The exchange option is a good deal. That got a lot of our drivers interested in sanctioning. We might lose two or three drivers, but we’ll pick up 10 more because of it.”
