Carrollton shoe company fighting an uphill stock battle
From the Newark Star-Ledger Tuesday on Carrollton-based Heely's, which is expected to go public in the near future, thanks to their crazy the shoe wheel/wheel shoe things that kids adore:
" 'It's a fad. . .that will get a strong reception from investors,' says David Menlow, president of IPO Financial Network in Millburn. 'You can't ignore the company's growth. But whether it is sustainable is an issue to focus on.'
"Menlow says the stock "has all the earmarks of running away from practical valuations" during the next six months -- meaning it could rapidly become overpriced."
Heely's shoes also made the top 10 dangerous toys list recently from the consumer group, World Against Toys Causing Harm. Here's what they had to say:
Heely's skate shoes: Potential for blunt impact, head and spinal injuries. According to WATCH's Web site, these shoes "turn children's sneakers into a type of in-line skate. The manufacturer cautions that Heely's 'can be dangerous,' yet these items are marketed to children who are unprepared for their associated risks."
Good luck, fellas.
