Academic Achievement recipients at Wylie HS
The 2005-2006 Academic Achievement recipients were recently honored at a special ceremony at Wylie High School. Students in grades 9-12 who earned a final grade average of 90 or above in regular core classes and 85 or above in pre-advanced or advanced courses are awarded commendation in a program sponsored by the WISD and the Wylie Chamber of Commerce.
More than 200 students were acknowledged. They received either a custom made throw as a first-year recipient or a plaque as a multi-year recipient. Since its inception in 1997, the Academic Achievement Program has honored more than one thousand Wylie High School students for excellence in academics. The program was conceived and originally sponsored by the Wylie Lions Club. In 2000, the Wylie Chamber of Commerce and its members assumed sponsorship of the program in collaboration with the Wylie ISD.
