Courtesy Maher Maso, mayor pro tem of Frisco: "The Great Steak of Texas is looking for volunteers to help with this year’s festival on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1. Volunteers will be given vests in order to give them an opportunity to wear shirts promoting their businesses, schools, churches or community organizations. Additionally, volunteers will have free admission to the festival. This year will be the biggest festival yet with activities, music, food, games and arts and crafts for the whole family. At 6:00 PM on Monday, September 25, the Great Steak of Texas Coordinators will host an orientation for volunteers in the back room of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce (6842 W Main Street). While attending the orientation is not mandatory, it will serve as an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the activities and layout of this year's event. I do not anticipate this meeting to last longer than an hour. Please invite any friends or family members who may be interested in volunteering with you. For more information on the festival or to register as a volunteer, please visit http://www.greatsteakoftexas.com, or email Sheacy Thompson, Volunteer Coordinator, at Sheacy@sbcglobal.net."

I am starving, geez.
For regular grilling at home, can anyone in town beat the quality and price of Costco steaks? Very curious.

If you're ever north of U.S. 380, go to Bobcat Country (or Kountry, or somesuch countrified misspelling) in Celina. It's a convenience store on Pecan St./FM 455 a few blocks west of S.H. 289 (Preston Rd.). They get fresh beef on Wednesdays and you can usually find a good cut till Friday. Huge, thick cuts: porterhouse, filets, strip. If I remember right, it's all between $6-$9 a pound.

excellent, thanks Jesse. I've been right there several times and never gone in that place. (Wonder if Deion Sanders shops there?)
