Texas Rangers announce 2007 Opening Day roster
Club makes number of moves to set 25-man roster
Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels announced Saturday night the club's 25-man Opening Day roster and a series of roster moves.
The Rangers will begin the 2007 season against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Monday, April 2 at 9:05 p.m. CT at Angels Stadium with the following 25-man roster:

Pitchers (12): Joaquin Benoit, Bruce Chen, Scott Feldman, Kameron Loe, Brandon McCarthy, Ron Mahay, Kevin Millwood, Akinori Otsuka, Vicente Padilla, Robinson Tejeda, C.J. Wilson and Mike Wood.
Catchers (2): Gerald Laird and Chris Stewart.
Infielders (5): Hank Blalock, Matt Kata, Ian Kinsler, Mark Teixeira and Michael Young.
Outfielders (6): Frank Catalanotto, Nelson Cruz, Jerry Hairston, Jr., Kenny Lofton, Sammy Sosa and Brad Wilkerson.
The club made the following roster moves prior to submitting their Opening Day roster:
• Purchased the contract of LHP Bruce Chen, INF/OF Jerry Hairston, INF Matt Kata, OF Sammy Sosa and RHP Mike Wood.
• Designated RHP Ezequiel Astacio, OF Marlon Byrd and catcher Guillermo Quiroz for assignment.
• Placed RHP Eric Gagne (recovering from surgery) on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
• Optioned catcher Miguel Ojeda Triple-A Oklahoma.
• Outrighted RHP Francisco Cruceta to Oklahoma and INF Adam Fox to Double-A Frisco.
Kevin Millwood is scheduled to pitch for Texas in the season opener against John Lackey for the Angels. The game can be seen in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex on my27 and can be heard in English on KRLD (1080 AM) and in Spanish on KFLC (1270 AM).
