Kid Picks for Grand Prairie

With Nokia Theatre, the multiple parks, and the celebration of The Bunny this weekend, the kids are bound to enjoy one of the following activities in Grand Prairie:

  • My Little Pony Live! at Nokia Theatre. Claimed to be "The World's Biggest Tea Party," these characters will come to life onstage. There will be seven shows in the four days (April 5-8).
  • Mood Swings Big Band at Turner Park as part of the free Concerts in the Park series, occurring every Friday night in the month of April. The series is for the whole family and you are encouraged to bring your lawn chairs/blankets. Other bands to come in the month are Inner City All Stars, The Fugitives, and E-Flat Porch Band.
  • Easter Egg Hunt at Kirby Creek Natatorium on Saturday, April 7. A wet version of an Easter egg hunt staged in the pool from 2-4 p.m. Challenges will include diving, hunting, and gathering for all ages, and treats and prizes will be give to all hunt participants. Only $2 a child.
  • A Grand Egg-stravaganza Traveling Easter Egg Hunt. Six Easter egg hunts will occur in different parks throughout town. More than 100,000 eggs will be hidden in hunt areas marked and divided into three age categories. The Easter bunny will be at each hunt, so bring your camera. Children are encouraged to bring their own Easter basket or small plastic bag to gather eggs at one of these parks: Parkhill Park (9:00 a.m., 5100 block of S. Robinson Rd), Mountain Creek North Park (10:00 a.m., Lakeview Dr. at Hardy Rd), Tyre Park (11:00 a.m., 2327 Tyre St), Jennifer McFalls West (12:00 p.m., 1300 SW 3rd St), Mike Lewis Park (1:00 p.m., 2600 block of N. Carrier Pkwy), Bowles Park (2:00 p.m., 2714 Graham St).
