Both games were closer than the final score would indicate. In game one Ashley Oldham allowed just two runs, one earned through the first six innings.

The Lady Rams trailed 2-0 going to the seventh, when Tarleton State exploded for eight runs on nine hits in the top of the seventh.

Oldham (5-5) allowed six runs, five earned, on 13 hits in 6.2 innings of work. Ariel Raley, Rachel Hampton, and Alyssa Cherry recorded the Lady Rams’ only hits off of Brooke Saulters who improved to 15-4 on the year with the win.

In game two, the Rams took a 2-0 lead with RBI singles from Raley and Hampton in the first inning. The TexAnns answered with one run in the second and took the lead with two runs in the third. A two-run double from Kelli Gayle pushed the margin to 5-2 in the fourth.

Another RBI single from Raley in the bottom of the fourth brought the Rams within two at 5-3, but a bases-clearing double from Nicole Cone in the sixth put the game away for Tarleton State.

Michelle Jones (2-7) took the loss after allowing eight runs on 12 hits in 5.1 innings of work. Raley led the Rams by going 3-for-4 with two RBI at the plate.

The Lady Rams will travel to Denton, TX, on Wednesday, to take on Texas Woman’s University. Game one of that doubleheader is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
