— The Kimbell Art Foundation announced that Renzo Piano Building Workshop has been chosen to design an addition to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. The addition will be a separate building across the street from the existing museum.

Renzo Piano -- an actual man, not a brand name for keyboards -- has become the museum go-to guy, with a long list of credits that include the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, the Menil Collection in Houston, th Art Institute of Chicago, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The FWST speculates that accepting the assignment might have been difficult because the Kimbell has become an international architectural icon. And if that isn't enough pressure, the snazzy Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is across the street. But Piano's prepared statement calls it "an awesome challenge but an attractive one." Doesn't seem intimidated at all.

Laurie Anderson Laurie Anderson is indescribably delicious. She's hitting McFarlin tonight with her new show, Homeland, and you can bet it will contain intellectual stimulation and pure unadulterated weirdness in equal measure. An album will follow the Homeland tour in 2009. More info
