Bayles Kite Day
The kites were no match for even the littlest hands.

The LakeHill Preparatory Athletic fields were full of hundreds of Bayles children and their families and the sky was alive with over 400 colorful, dancing kites. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the beginning of spring. “This is one of the few free opportunities for kids and their parents to participate together in a safe, fun and healthy event,” says Bayles Elementary Principal, Maria F. Tafur.
But it is the strong support of the Ferguson Road Initiative and the entire White Rock Hills Community, year after year, that makes this event so successful! LakeHill Preparatory School graciously provided their Athletic Facility and their students were even on hand to help assemble the kites and assist the little ones with the actual flying. StoneGate Development Partners’ generous financial contribution helped cover many of the expenses including the kites. Bayles PTA provided and served all of the drinks and chips. Over 400 Hot Dogs were provided and cooked by the White Rock/Skyline and Metro Lions Clubs. Ms. Evelyn Corley donated the ribbon for the kite tails! All of which was made possible by the teachers and faculty of both LakeHill Prep and Bayles, who volunteered their time to make this event the tremendous success that it was. “It really was a community effort,” says Bayles Media Specialist Becki Bacsik, who chaired the event. “As soon as the pollen has settled, it will be time to start planning for the annual Bayles Fest this fall.” Many thanks to all of the volunteers and sponsors who made this event a tremendous success.
