Greenery mowed down from Central Expressway in Dallas

— When the Texas Department of Transportation first finished the remodel of I-75/Central Expressway, they made a hoo-ha about the fact that they'd built plants into the design, including plantings way up high on the side of the freeway canyon, and a row of bushes running down the center of the median. It always seemed like it would be dreadful for a plant, out there soaking up the car exhaust; now TXDoT is removing the bushes in the median strip, as detailed in a WFAA video report.

The plants have a hard time surviving the summer heat, and getting rid of them will save on maintenance and not subject workers to the dangers of working on the freeway. They're replacing the plants with white rocks. Right now, they're working on the area between Mockingbird and downtown; they'll phase it all out over the next few years.

Karaoke Oh yeah, you know you wanna belt it out like you're alone in the car. The microphone beckons. What else do you have to do on a Monday night? I mean besides watching football? If this is a bit far from your neighborhood, don't worry. There is a karaoke machine near you just waiting. More info
