Grapevine-Colleyville kids to experience some “shattered dreams”

On Thursday April 12 at 10:00am Colleyville Heritage High School students will be subjected to a somewhat gruesome display of torn flesh and the waking dead.
You're going downtown, missy. Bet you'll think twice before you try to accidentally kill yourself, now won't you?
No, I'm not talking about emo kids; I'm talking about the after school campaign known as "Shattered Dreams." The program, which has been around for a long, long time, uses dramatization of an alcohol-related crash, complete with police and fire fighters, to raise awareness of the serious effects of drinking and driving.
During CHHS's program, the mock crash will be staged on the northeast driveway. Seven students will be involved in the simulated collision, as will CHHS teacher Tom Brandt. Police and fire officials from Colleyville, Grapevine and Bedford will serve as first responders. CareFlight will also be on the scene as will representatives from Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
I still remember the Shattered Dreams skit performed at my high school, John Horn. We exited the gym and went outside to find a completely totaled Ford truck the Mesquite Fire Department had planted in the parking lot. Meanwhile, on the P.A. system, the supposedly-dead girl driver was reading aloud from a letter she was writing to her mother (while sitting on a cloud in Heaven) about how dumb her death was.
