Stephen Colbert ice cream hits Dallas freezer cases

Email Print Tell us your story Comment (1)

— Americone Dream, the Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor dedicated to Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert, has officially arrived in Dallas supermarkets -- mostly Albertsons with a few Tom Thumbs thrown in -- and at the Ben & Jerry's at 1500 Preston Road, at the northwest corner of Plano Parkway.

B&J describes the flavor as a "decadent melting pot of vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl," and quotes Colbert as saying that dessert has a "well-known liberal agenda" and that he'll "bring balance back to the freezer case."

Meanwhile, the chain is celebrating its annual free cone day on April 17. Which, hmm, isn't someone else hosting a free day on April 17? Isn't that the day that Denny's is giving out free coffee? Isn't that a coincidence? Isn't that convenient that you can get your free ice cream cone and follow it up with a free cup of coffee? Shouldn't everything be free that day?

Yes! I have tried this and it is good! Creamy caramel, choc covered waffle cone, yummy vanilla ice cream, it's a totally "fair and balanced" experience!

Laurie Anderson Laurie Anderson is indescribably delicious. She's hitting McFarlin tonight with her new show, Homeland, and you can bet it will contain intellectual stimulation and pure unadulterated weirdness in equal measure. An album will follow the Homeland tour in 2009. More info
