Texas Wesleyan’s Billie Hicks named RRAC Baseball Player of the Week
Texas Wesleyan University’s Billie Hicks has been selected as Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the period of April 2-8. Hicks shared the award with Travis Bernard of Bacone College.
Hicks, a senior shortstop from Arlington, TX, racked up seven hits (7-for-12) and four RBI in three games for Texas Wesleyan as the Rams remain unbeaten in conference play. In a 7-5 win at McMurry University (TX), he went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and he was 4-for-4 with three RBI in a 10-2 win at conference foe Northwood University (TX). After completeing a three-game series sweep of Northwood on Monday, the Rams, ranked eighth in the NAIA, are 9-0 in the RRAC and 27-5 overall.
For the week, Bernard was 8-of-16 hitting with four runs, two RBI, two doubles and four stolen bases. Bacone is now 8-0 in the RRAC and 27-16 on the season.
The Rams return to action this afternoon when they host Howard Payne University in a doubleheader at LaGrave Field. Game one is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
