Fort Worth ISD hires four new high school head football coaches

The Fort Worth Independent School District has hired not one, but four head football coaches throughout the district.

And here they are:

  • Matthew Cook, new head football coach at Paschal High School

Matthew Cook comes to the Fort Worth ISD from Arlington Martin High School and All Saints Episcopal School of Dallas and before that worked as assistant head football coach at Nolan Catholic High School. While at All Saints Fort Worth, Cook coached to two state championships (2002 and 2004.)

He is a graduate of Texas Christian University where he was a star athlete in football and soccer.

  • Zachary Criss, new head football coach at O.D. Wyatt High School

Zachary Criss is the third member of the Criss family to serve as head football coach at O.D. Wyatt. It was a position held twice by his father, Willie Criss, and once by his brother, Anthony Criss.

Zachary Criss also worked as an assistant coach at O.D. Wyatt High School. He holds an advanced degree from Texas A&M-Commerce and an undergraduate degree from Texas Southern University. He is a Fort Worth ISD alumnus, as well, having graduated from Dunbar High School.

  • Michael Lawrence, new head football coach at Western Hills High School

Michael Lawrence is returning to the Fort Worth ISD where he once was an assistant coach at Dunbar High School.

Most recently, Coach Lawrence was the defensive coordinator for Plano East Senior High School and has coached at Burleson High School, Poplar Bluff High School (Missouri), Ball High School (Galveston,) as well as DePaul University and the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

He holds an advanced degree from Indiana State University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

  • Marvin Sedberry, Jr., new head football coach at Polytechnic High School.

Marvin Sedberry, Junior, joins the FWISD from Lake Highlands High School in Dallas and is another product of a coaching family. His father, Marvin Sedberry, Senior, coached 33 years at several Texas high schools and currently completing his first year as athletic director for the Alief ISD. Mr. Sedberry, Sr. was also recently the head football coach at Bryan High School.

Coach Sedberry, Junior has also served as coach and teacher at Greenville High School in Greenville, Texas. He is a graduate of Texas A&M-Commerce, where he was on both the Dean’s List and the President’s List.

These four coaches will meet and talk with media at 7 am prior to National Signing Day getting underway at 9 am.
