Jonas Woods resigns as president of Hillwood
DALLAS Hot story in the DBJ about Jonas Woods resigning as president of Hillwood Capital, the Ross Perot, Jr. company responsible for the Victory Park development surrounding the American Airlines Center outside of downtown Dallas.
In a statement, Woods said he'd decided to leave Hillwood after 13 years to start his own company.
You could say that, now that Victory's mostly done, maybe the "challenge is over" for Woods. Or you could say that he's splitting before all those expensive restaurants and bars he helped persuade open for business here -- including N9NE, Nove, Victory Tavern, Craft, Ghostbar, etc. etc. -- wake up and realize that, despite appearances, Dallas has a finite number of high-rollers who can afford to frequent those kinds of places.
A Hillwood spokesperson said that his duties will be handled internally until they figure out what the heck to do.

I go with the "Or..."
Look at it this way... the dude was 30 yrs old when given charge of this Hillwood position. He's closer to 40 than 35 now. He's a shaker and needs to leave while this legacy is still intact... yet long from fulfilled.
Nobody, but NOBODY, leaves on a days notice in that industry and nobody saw it coming.
Kinda reminds you of Skilling leaving Enron the exact same way. Not that they are the same guys or operation, mind you.
