Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary files to have sexism suit dismissed
Sheri Klouda, a former professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, is suing the school claiming that she was denied tenure based on gender. According to S-T, since women are not allowed to be pastors according to Southern Baptists, the school is interpreting that women are also not allowed to teach future pastors.
In this case, the immediate issue does not appear to be whether she was let go because of gender, but whether the courts have the right to intervene given the school's religious affiliation. The school says no, but Klouda and her attorney believe Southwestern Baptist is misinterpreting the law.
