UPDATE: Richardson Wildflower Festival updates headliners list
Unfortunately, we won't know Diddley.
RICHARDSON UPDATE: Bo Diddley had to cancel for health reasons. Word is he's in the hospital. Here's hoping he's better soon. Thanks to Pegasus News user J_Mortimer for the heads-up.
Also, don't forget our free VIP ticket and swag contest. You can enter just by posting a comment below telling us who at the fest you most want to see.
City of Richardson officials announced more headliner acts for this year’s 15th annual Wildflower! Arts and Music Festival, May 18-20. With just five weeks left until the gig, Bo Diddley, Jo Dee Messina, Tracy Byrd and The Austin Lounge Lizards join an already impressive lineup at Wildflower!, an arts and music festival drawing local, regional, and national acts performing the best in classic and alternative rock, country, blues, funk, pop, R&B, Americana, and folk.
You haven't seen diddley till you've experienced a live performance with “The Originator,” Bo Diddley. Wielding his trademark rectangular-shaped guitar, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Hall of Famer brings his popular “Bo Diddley Beat” to the American Airlines Stage for an early evening performance on Saturday, May 19.
Closing out the festival on Sunday, May 20 is Jo Dee Messina- One of today's hottest artists in the world of country music. Messina became the first woman in country music history to have three consecutive multi-week No. 1 songs from one album, and when you're Billboard's most-played female country artist it's no wonder The Austin Chronicle labels you “contemporary country's brightest up-and-coming star!” Acts are still being booked and will be announced when confirmed.

Mike Orren, says:
Not so much on the main stages. The <a href="http://www.wildflowerfestival.net/content/AcousticCafe.html">acoustic cafe</a> features some, as does the <a href="http://discovery.cor.gov/Public/Parks/wildflowercal.nsf/SongwriterCalendarDisp?OpenForm">singer songwriter stage</a>. And there is a <a href="http://www.wildflowerfestival.net/content/BuddingTalent.html">budding talent</a> competition only open to Richardson residents.

This is an odd fest. Half cool and half crap.
I'll always see Diddly and the Lizards given the chance.
I wish it was Tom Waite not Ralph Waite.

Foghat! When I was a kid they used to open for practically every big concert at the LA Forum and they pretty much rocked back then. Or maybe I just didn't know any better.
I'd kind of like to see them just to try and get a glimpse backstage to see what kind of medical support team they've put together.
But Bo Diddly, that's a bonus!
And I wish it were Tom Waits and not John Waite.

Wow, I can see Bo Diddley and Better than Ezra at the same fest. Thats cool, I'm ready. Better than Ezra puts on a great show, I'm from Baton Rouge, their "hometown", and am glad to know that Bo is still rockin'

Mike Orren, says:
cjongirard: Some of us will be there a little bit to check out the bands, but given a small staff and a staffer's wedding party taking place this weekend, we'll primarily be representing with our jumbotron ad, which Chad is running over to the Wildflower folk as I type.

Bo Diddley had a medical issue and had to go to a hospital. Apparently he has had to drop out of this event.

I saw Foghat many times in the 70's. They opened up for many bands until Slow Ride made it big. Lonesome Dave passed away in 2000 and he was the heart of the band. I hope the new guys do him justice. Rest in peace, Dave.

clambe,
This story is about Wildflower festival last year. If you click <a href="http://www.pegasusnews.com/events/search/?q=wildflower%20arts%20and%20music%20festival#eventsearch">here</a>, you can find the lineups for this year's festival taking place May 16-18.
Sorry to say there is no Jo Dee Messina this year. Do you, perhaps, like Pat Benetar? Because she <i>is</i> on the lineup.
