Blue Shoe Project works with Irving & Plano ISDs to offer elementary blues education program
Starting Monday, April 30, The Blue Shoe Project will begin conducting its Elementary level blues education programming at the Irving Independent School District and the Plano Independent School District. The program is the first of its kind in North Texas being implemented at the Elementary Level. One of America’s foremost blues educators, Michael “Hawkeye” Herman, will lead the program which consists of a guided-inquiry, storyteller type presentation. The program will run from Monday, April 30th – Tuesday, May 8th, 2007.
With over 40 years of performing experience, Michael "Hawkeye" Herman exemplifies the range of possibilities in acoustic blues, and personifies versatile musicianship, originality, and compelling artistry as a blues storyteller. His dynamic performances have won him a faithful following, and he leads a very active touring schedule of school programs, workshops, and performances at festivals and concerts. Hawkeye has presented to over 125,000 students to date throughout his 25-year blues-education career.
