Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD wins a slew of Texas School Public Relations Association awards

TSPRA awards

The Hurst-Euless-Bedford district’s Communications Department has won 11 awards in two state competitions this spring. Department staff won awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) and Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA) for public relations tools and campaigns that promote HEB ISD.

The district won several TSPRA Best of Category Awards, including best Computerized Presentation, for the “America” PowerPoint shown at the 2006 convocation; best Electronic Newsletter, for the monthly “School Backpack;” best graphics for the “Best of the West” invitation to the 2006 adopter and volunteer luncheon; and best print categories for “Best of the West” invitation. Best of Category winners are selected from among Gold Award winners in every category.

The district also won several TSPRA Gold Awards, including the print advertisement for the International Business Initiative; script writing for the 2006 “Best of the West” luncheon; and image/identity packages, for the “Best of the West” luncheon. The department garnered two TSPRA Silver Awards, including the “Maximum Read at Hurst Jr. High” news release and “Dancing Classrooms” photos in the photography category.

In addition to TSPRA awards, the district garnered a Silver Spur Award in the Special Event category in the TPRA annual competition. Judges may award multiple Silver Spur awards, and other 2007 winners were American Airlines; Valero Energy Corporation; Vollmer Public Relations, for Travelocity; and Vollmer Public Relations, for Houston-Galveston Area Council. TPRA also presented the district with a Best of Texas Award in the news release category, for “Maximum Read at Hurst Jr. High.”

Director of Communications Judy Everett Ramos, Webmaster Carolyn Marcantel, and Assistant Webmaster Dave Nielsen represent the District's Communications Department.

The Texas School Public Relations Association represents public relations practitioners in school districts across the state. The Texas Public Relations Association represents public relations practitioners in all industries across the state.
